The National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association (NAPSA) has launched their first position statement - Pharmacy Students in the Workplace.
The position statement outlines the expectations that NAPSA believes should be placed on both the employer and their employee pharmacy student.
Matthew Bartz, last year’s chair of the Industrial Affairs Committee, who oversaw the development of these statements, said: “Pharmacy Students in the Workplace provides a framework for a mutually beneficial relationship between student and mentor, and NAPSA strongly encourages both employers and students to strive to implement these values.”
NAPSA has also introduced a Membership Privacy Policy and an Independence Policy, which aim to safeguard NAPSA and its members.
Paul Buise, NAPSA president, said: “These policies and position statements reflect a real movement toward improved advocacy and representation for Australian pharmacy students.”
The three statements were endorsed following almost six months of intense development, which included consultation between the association’s members, its branches and supporters as well as other stakeholders within the pharmacy industry.
