Low doses of aspirin can help reduce the risk of death by patients with type 2 diabetes, a new study has concluded.
The research, published in the journal Diabetes Care, suggested that diabetics who regularly took aspirin in doses lower than 75mg per day could be reducing their risks of all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality.
Researchers found that all-cause mortality reductions were greatest in men and in those younger than 65 years.
"The present observational data support recommendations that aspirin should be used in primary CVD prevention in all but the lowest risk patients," they wrote.
