Layton joins Chemmart as executive director
Symbion Pharmacy Services has announced the appointment of Jonathon Layton as the new executive director of Chemmart.
Mr Layton has worked with Symbion Pharmacy Services as Chemmart merchandise and store development manager since September 2004.
He brings extensive industry experience to his new position, having previously held a number of senior roles at Priceline, Sigma, Amcal and Catalent (formerly RP Scherer Holdings).
Patrick Davies, general manager of Symbion Pharmacy Services, said the appointment was further proof of the quality of the people within the Symbion organisation.
"Our preference is always to promote from within, and I am delighted to announce Jonathan's appointment, which he thoroughly deserves after making a very strong contribution to Chemmart over the last three and a half years," Mr Davies said.
"He has a clear understanding of the retail and pharmacy environment as well as strong negotiating and people management skills, which will play an important part in the continued growth and success of the brand."
Mr Layton will begin his new role when current executive director, John Koot, leaves the position on June 30.
"It's an exciting time to be part of such a successful pharmacy group and I'm really looking forward to working with the team to continue the growth of the Chemmart brand," Mr Layton said.
"Over the past two years, Chemmart has become the second largest community pharmacy brand in Australia with more than 220 stores. Our pharmacies have grown in both sales and profit by over 20 per cent in this time, and I look forward to continuing to drive that success."
