Medals of excellence

James Delahunty, Bruce Annabel and Bill Scott were all recognised at the Pharmacy Practice Foundation annual dinner at Sydney University last night.

Mr Delahunty, a community pharmacist, was awarded the Sanofi-aventis Medal of Excellence in Pharmacy Practice for a community or hospital pharmacist who puts new professional ideas into practice.

The Pharmacy Practice Foundation Medal of Excellence (industry) was awarded to Bruce Annabel. The award recognises an individual, who needn't be a pharmacist, who has contributed to pharmacy education and communication within the industry or has enhanced excellence in pharmacy practice.

Mr Annabel is an independent observer of pharmacy business practice and the judges praised his "commitment and passion for improving business and retail management".

The Merck Sharp & Dohme (Australia) Medal of Excellence in Pharmacy Practice went to Bill Scott for his valuable, high-level contribution to the Pharmacy Guild.

He is a former president of the Victorian branch, national vice president and chair of the Guild health economics committee (HEC) and he led the team that successfully negotiated the third and fourth agreements with the government.
