New supply chain service for Pfizer products

Pfizer is launching a new supply chain service that will provide Australian pharmacies with an additional channel for the supply of Pfizer’s pharmaceutical products.

The service, Pfizer Direct, will provide a simple net pricing of products directly to pharmacy and will operate alongside existing pharmacy supply arrangements with other pharmaceutical wholesalers.

The supply of Pfizer products will be managed from a central distribution point through DHL Exel Supply Chain, Pfizer’s warehousing and distribution provider.

Neither Pfizer nor DHL will be claiming any community service obligation (CSO) payments from the government for products sold through this channel.

Pfizer Australia’s head of customer and supply chain objectives, Madonna McLaughlin, said the program had not been designed to increase revenue and was unlikely to do so.

The service will be officially launched on Monday 17 September.
