Nominate for Excellence Awards: PSA
The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia is calling on the industry to nominate high-achieving pharmacists who deserve national recognition for the 2008 PSA Excellence Awards.
Nominations are invited for three award categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Pharmacist of the Year (Gold Medal) and Young Pharmacist of the Year (Silver Medal).
The PSA Lifetime Achievement Award was added to the gold and silver medals last year to recognise outstanding and enduring contributions to professional practice.
In announcing the 2008 awards, PSA national president, Brian Grogan, said: "The PSA Excellence Awards are the premier awards for pharmacists in Australia and they provide a rare opportunity to recognise and reward the achievers of our profession, those exceptional pharmacists who are models of best practice, involved in innovative practice and raising practice standards."
The awards, exclusively sponsored by Symbion Pharmacy Services, aim to raise community awareness of the role and range of professional services provided by pharmacists who strive to make a difference in the communities they serve.
Patrick Davies, group general manager of the pharmacy division of Symbion Pharmacy Services, said: "With a commitment to pharmacy and pharmacists, Symbion Pharmacy Services regards these awards as an important investment in the industry.
"Like so many pharmacists, we are focused on achieving excellence in the pharmacy sector and these awards are a great reflection of this philosophy, so we're both delighted and proud to be involved."
Each award recipient also receives an $8,000 Symbion Education Grant. These grants provide winners with the opportunity to advance their knowledge by supporting their participation in a pharmacy-specific education event such as an international conference or course.
The three Excellence Award winners will be announced at the opening ceremony of the Pharmacy Australia Congress in Perth on Saturday 25 October.
Award nominations close 1 September 2008.
