Resignation of Sigma chief financial officer

SIGMA Pharmaceutical’s chief financial officer has resigned, the company announced yesterday.

Sigma’s managing director, Elmo de Alwis, said that John Cullity had given notice of his resignation which will be effective on 31 August 2007.

Mr de Alwis thanked Mr Cullity for his contribution to the company and wished him all the best in his future endeavours.

A search for Mr Cullity's successor is under way and an announcement will be made in due course about the new chief financial officer.

As an interim measure, Nick Terry, a senior Deloitte finance resource has been seconded to the company to support the managing director and the finance team throughout the half year reporting period or until such time as the replacement chief Financial officer is appointed, the company said in a statement.

Sigma reduced its profit forecast for 2007/08 last month, citing the impact of the community service obligation as a key reason for the downgrade.
