Tailored web education
A web-based program to develop tailored pharmacy programs for patients with chronic diseases was one of a raft of e-health initiatives launched at APP2008.
The secure web-based program, called HygeiaRx, creates and delivers technologies that helps pharmacists educate patients about their health and develop patient support programs on medication and disease states.
Patient details will only be passed on to the e-health gateway with their consent.
HygeiaRx complements MedsIndex, itself a pharmacy resource used to measure a patient's medication compliance. Using MedsIndex as a base platform, patient support programs can be built around that information.
Pharmacy Guild of Australia president, Kos Sclavos, said the initiative would improve patient compliance with medicines and health plans, giving them maximum support from pharmacists.
