Failure to pass the National Health Amendment (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)) Bill next week could leave community pharmacy in uncharted territory the Pharmacy Guild says.
With the Senate set to vote on the Bill, which will enable the Government to implement its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Medicines Australia, a Guild spokesperson told Pharmacy eNews if the legislation was not approved it could have an impact on the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement.
The spokesman said the Guild wanted to see the Bill passed “as soon as possible”, despite calls from coalition Senators to have the MoU renegotiated to include relevant stakeholders including the Generic Medicines Industy Assoication (GmiA).
