Guild backs call for moratorium on pharmacy schools

No new schools of pharmacy should be accredited until accurate workforce data can be obtained, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia believes.
The Guild announced its position after Professor William Charman, head of Monash University’s school of pharmacy, published an open letter calling for a moratorium on new schools yesterday.
In a statement, the Guild said the recent growth in the number of pharmacy schools in Australia was “unsustainable”.
“Professor Charman is right when he says that the proliferation of pharmacy schools and courses is of significant concern,” the Guild said.
