New school to be a 'watershed' in pharmacy education

Australia’s nineteenth pharmacy school aims to become a market leader, reshaping the way pharmacists are trained in the future.
Despite calls for a moratorium on new pharmacy schools from many organisations within the profession, the University of Technology Sydney has been granted approval by the Australian Council of Pharmacy to set-up a Masters in Pharmacy course.
Professor Shalom (Charlie) Benrimoj, head of UTS’s school of pharmacy, told Pharmacy News the decision represents a “watershed time in terms of pharmacy education”.
“I believe that when people start looking at our curriculum that will inevitably influence other people, particularly if we are successful, which we will be,” he said.
