The AMA is putting patients’ health at risk in its fight against legislation that would enable pharmacists to provide emergency supplies of certain drugs, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia believes.
Kos Sclavos, Guild national president, described claims made by Professor Geoff Dobb, AMA vice president, that patients with chronic conditions would not be adversely affect if they did not take their medicine “for a week or two”, as “extraordinary”.
In a letter to Grant Kardachi, PSA national president, Professor Dobb said the draft guidelines drawn up by the PSA, on behalf of the Federal Government, undermined collaboration between doctors and pharmacists.
