Pharmacists are being specifically targeted as a key source of asthma primary care at an Asthma Foundation conference.
Held on World Asthma Day (1 May), the Asthma Self-Management Symposium will take place in Brisbane.
Its theme is ‘helping patients off the rollercoaster and into the driving seat’, with a focus on helping patients gain control of their condition.
The conference organisers said that “due to the pivotal role of pharmacists in supporting people with asthma, a stream has been devoted to pharmacy-based initiatives.”
These subjects include ‘5CPA clinical interventions: What this means for people with asthma and your pharmacy’, ‘The Asthma Friendly Pharmacy’, ‘Device technique: Remedy the errors; and ‘Using community pharmacy to identify patients at risk of poor asthma control’.
