Jobs plentiful, but pay low, for pharmacy graduates

Employment prospects for pharmacy graduates are good, but entry-level salaries lag behind other health professionals.
Research published by Graduate Careers Australia found 97.3 per cent of pharmacy graduates found full-time work in 2011 within four months of graduation, compared with 76.6 per cent of all bachelor degree graduates.
However, while employment opportunities for graduate pharmacists remained high this year, the figures show the percentage of graduates who found full-time jobs within four months of completing their course fell by 0.4 per cent in 2010. Employment prospects for doctors increased in 2010, with 98 per cent of graduates finding work this year compared with 97.3 per cent last year.
