Moves to restrict unscheduled paracetamol pack sizes underway

Australian drug regulators are considering restricting the sale of some unscheduled paracetamol packet sizes.  
Recently, the New Zealand Medicines Classification Committee (MCC) proposed that unscheduled paracetamol packs be restricted to no more than 10 grams of total paracetamol, for example 20 x 500 mg tablets.
In their latest release today, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) said it was considering following suit, seeking advice on a proposal to further restrict pack size requirements to be exempt from scheduling, (currently no more than 25 tablets at no more than 500 mg per tablet).
Also, the Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling (ACMS) has proposed to exempt from scheduling solid oral dose preparations containing loratadine, to treat allergic rhinitis.
