Pfizer leaving patients in the lurch, NPSA claims

More than 45,000 pharmacy customers a month are being left waiting for two days for Pfizer medicines because of the company’s direct-to-pharmacy distribution service, wholesalers believe.
A survey carried out by the National Pharmaceutical Services Association (NPSA), which represents Community Service Obligation wholesalers – excluding API – found many patients were being impacted by Pfizer Direct’s “strict 3pm deadline” for next day delivers.
The NPSA research revealed the majority (53 per cent) of pharmacy customers lodged their prescriptions outside the cut-off times (now 3pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 4pm on Thursdays).
