Community pharmacies fight back against online threat

Community pharmacy needs to “get with it”, or “get swamped” by online competitors, according to Sydney-based pharmacy owner David Wilson.
Since adopting the Pharmacy4U online platform five months ago, Mr Wilson told the Australian Financial Review more than 1000 orders were placed online, the majority of which were prescriptions, with most customers using the “click and collect” option, rather than having their prescriptions delivered to them.
“One of my pharmacists was concerned the website would send our customers online,” Mr Wilson said.
“'Mate', I said, 'they are already there. We either get with it or we get swamped.'”
