Criticism aimed at pharmacies for disregarding guidelines by actively promoting that they can issue sick day certificates have been dismissed by a leading Pharmacy Guild official.
Updated guidelines for pharmacists issuing sick day certificates released by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia in October, 2010, have been ignored by some pharmacies, The Advertiser reported today.
According to this report, some pharmacies were promoting these services with signs on their dispensary counters. This was despite the ‘Guidelines for pharmacists issuing certificates for absence from work,’ stipulating that “active promotion (advertising) of the service is not encouraged.”
