Senate to vote on fifth agreement inquiry call

Senators are expected to vote on a proposal to carry out an inquiry into the Federal Government’s dealings with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia next week.
The vote follows a call by Senator Richard di Natale, Australian Greens health spokesperson, for an investigation into the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement (5CPA).
“The interests of pharmacists themselves are not sufficiently represented in the agreement with groups such as the PSA, the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia and APESMA locked out of negotiations,” he said.
“We need an inquiry into the agreement and how the interests of taxpayers, consumers and pharmacists should be better represented in the negotiation process.”
