Heterosexual men benefiting from HPV vaccine

Cases of genital warts in young men have declined significantly since the introduction of a national vaccination programme to protect women from the human papillomavirus (HPV), a study says.
The findings of the Australian study revealed a 28 per cent reduction in the number of heterosexual men diagnosed with genital warts since the vaccination program commenced in 2007.
Researchers reported nine per cent of the 112,083 new patients attending sexual health services between January 2004 and December 2009 had genital warts.
